“Cultural Identity Within the Late 20th Century
Chinese Diaspora: The Art of Wang Jia’nan”
This publication corresponds to the exhibition of the works of Wang Jia’nan and Cai Xiaoli held in our New York gallery in May of 1999. An article by Stephen Goldberg of Hamilton College, entitled “Cultural Identity Within the Late 20th Century Chinese Diaspora: The Art of Wan Jia’nan,” is a penetrating examination of Wang’s inner world and of the external forces that are the basis of his idiosyncratic body of paintings. Further insights on both artists are provided by Howard Rogers in the preface of this catalogue.
