Zheng Ming [Cheng Ming] (1680?-1745?) 程鳴
Landscape 山水圖
Hanging scroll, ink on paper
194.0 x 50.0 cm. (76 3/8 x 19 5/8 in.)
Inscription:
“Tall mountains rise in ranges of a myriad feet,
Screening out clouds red with dawn;
Seen from afar old pines stand out,
also portrayed are trees in groves.
Streams of water descend rocky peaks,
through stone gorges rush in water splashes;
In pure extremes one dislikes dangerous
heights,
and with affection gives thanks for facing
streams.
Gods and immortals in wonder uproot their
houses,
so this place is no longer without boundaries;
I only fault the precipitous stone steps,
but still remain dependent on the world.
(Cheng) Ming, called Songmen.”
