“Landscape with Traveler” 1813

Horizontal hanging scroll, ink on paper
77.2 x 147.1 cm. (30 3/8 x 57 7/8 in.)

Inscription:
“Old trees in shadows, a mountain road encircles the mountains,
heavy rain at the entry lane, thick grows the green moss;
Not despising quiet solitude, with neither cart nor horses,
sometimes a recluse will come by to discuss epigraphy.

During the second lunar month of the year 1813, I imitated the brushwork of Baishi-weng (Shen Zhou), Yang Cai, called Qiaogu (‘Wood-cutter Valley’).”
