Inscription:
‘Amidst white clouds and red-leafed trees the water current flows, on the secluded path no people come to this place;
I introduced this to a crazy old guest from South of the River, who arrived on donkey-back to view the autumn trees.
During the tenth lunar month of the year 1823, I followed the painting ideas of Sung-yuan Shan-jen (Ts’ai Chia) and submit this to second elder brother Chih-hsien for his refined judgment. Ni Ts’an, called Yen-t’ien.’
