Colophon by Che-weng Ju-yen (1151-1225):
‘For nine years he faced the wall until he perfected the ways of old, pointing directly to the ch’an transmission, good works are useless; He who wants the good should not come and offer his greedy self, who within a hundred rivers knows not to face east?
The monk who lives at T’ien-t’ung, Ju-yen, respectfully inscribed this.’ One seal, illegible
