Kaikodo Journal XXI (November 2001)
Kaikodo is pleased to announce an exhibition and sale of 19 traditional-style ink paintings by 10 outstanding contemporary Chinese artists. The artists range in age from 94 to 46 and reside in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada, and the U. S. The works are all on paper (some mounted in the traditional scroll format and others framed) and landscape is the predominate theme. It is through depictions of mountain scenery—real and imagined—that these 10 painters working in diverse styles express their connection to a common cultural homeland. These landscape images represent China not only as a physical place but also as a spiritual realm.
Included in the exhibition are: C. C. Wang (Wang Jiqian), Wucius Wong (Wang Wuxie), Li Xubai, Harold Wong (Huang Zhongfang), Luo Jianwu, Li Huayi, Chang Jin, Xu Shiping, Arnold Chang (Zhang Hong), and Yu Peng.
