Paying Homage to Stones
September 15 - October 18, 2007
Gallery & Web Exhibition
The late Northern Song period poet-collector-connoisseur Mi Fu (1051-1107) once came upon a stone so captivating that, it is popularly said, he bowed to it and christened it “Elder Brother.” Mi Fu was not alone in harboring feelings of adoration and possessiveness towards such unique sculptural creations of Nature. The geologic wonders of the world have indeed been a source of life and livelihood, of wonderment and fascination for the Chinese over countless generations and it is in the spirit of Mi Fu and his compatriots that Kaikodo presents the Fall 2007 exhibition in New York: Paying Homage to Stones.
